In March 1981, whilst on a PHAB holiday in London we had a day trip to the BBC TV Studios. Whilst I was looking around the studios I caught a glimps of PHIL LYNOTT who was rehearsing for a solo performance on THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST.
This probably would have been one of his first solo performances whilst taking a break from THIN LIZZY
Amongst THIN LIZZY's hits were THE ROCKER, JAILBREAK, THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN, DON'T BELIEVE A WORD, BAD REPUTATION, DANCIN' IN THE MOONLIGHT (IT'S CAUGHT ME IN ITS SPOTLIGHT), ROSALIE / COWGIRL SONG, STILL IN LOVE WITH YOU, EMERALD, WAITING FOR AN ALIBI, DO ANYTHING YOU WANT TO, SARAH, and WHISKY IN THE JAR.
After this I also saw the studio they used for TOP OF THE POPS (which I thought was very small) rather apropriate seen as though Phil's record THE YELLOW PEARL was currently being used as the Top Of The Pops Theme Tune, and a bit later on (whilst we were in the Canteen) PHIL LYNOTT walked by me.
The actual performance was shown on BBC TV on 11th April 1981 and featured:-With the songs ODE TO A BLACK MAN and SOMEBODY ELSES DREAM being performed.
